In April 2009, I purchased Ferrity, nee Tiana, an Alberg 30 foot sloop. She had been on the hard for four years and needed a lot of work. After five weeks of intensive work, I moved aboard. Two weeks later Ferrity hit the water where I continued to work another two weeks. At the end of June, I sailed my new home to Annapolis and slid into a Spa Creek slip in Annapolis, MD.
In December 1986, I purchased Sun Po, a Pearson 35 foot sloop and moved aboard two weeks later. Until late in 2005, I lived aboard Sun Po as I sailed her on the Chesapeake Bay, San Francisco Bay and Delta, across to Hawai'i, and around the Hawaiian Islands. In late 2005 I put Sun Po on the market and moved to Charleston, South Carolina. Someday I would move aboard another sailboat.
A scanned pre-digital photo of Sun Po anchored in the Napa River. One week I explored the Napa River by sailing from the San Francisco waterfront up the Bay and into the Napa River. After sailing past Mare Island, I continued up the river and anchored within a short dinghy ride to the city of Napa. Beautiful, but shallow river.
Prior to Sun Po, I owned Ku'uipo, a 17 foot Daysailor that I sailed on Tokyo Bay.
Aboard Ferrity, I've called the following slips home:
W & P Nautical - Spa Creek, Annapolis, MD
In my voyages aboard Sun Po, I have rented slips for periods of several months to a few years in the following marinas:
- Ke'ehi Small Boat Harbor - too near Honolulu International Airport (photo of sunset at Ke'ehi)
